AMEC Geomatrix educational initiatives
Just when we think we've created a solution for a challenging problem, a new one crops up. That's why we believe in helping nurture the next generation of scientists and engineers who'll be creating the solutions for some of the world's most pressing problems. Recent examples of educational research support include:
- 2006 Scholarship for University of Minnesota. Granted to a Graduate Student working on PhD thesis in the environmental, water resources or hydrogeology areas within the department of Civil Engineering. This years recipient is developing a wireless sensor network system for real time monitoring of environmental parameters within surface water bodies.
- 2005 Ontario Graduate Scholarships - University of Waterloo, Department of Civil Engineering. Two graduate student fellowships in environmental, water resources, or hydrogeology disciplines.
- 2003 Ontario Graduate Scholarships in Science and Technology at the University of Waterloo, Department of Earth Sciences. Student investigated isotopic fingerprinting of potential contaminant sources.
- 2003 Scholarship - Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology at the University of Waterloo, Department of Earth Sciences. Student investigated organic contaminant groundwater plume.
- Support for Dr. Douglas Mackay's Research, University of Waterloo. In this collaborative research, Geomatrix supported Dr. Mackay's research into innovative oxygen-delivery techniques for remediating MtBE and TBA in groundwater
- 2001 Scholarship - Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology at the University of Waterloo, Department of Earth Sciences. Student research, "Influences of Sedimentary Structures and Physical Characteristics on Solvent DNAPL Distribution in the Borden Sand Aquifer"
- 2001 Scholarship - Ontario Graduate Scholarship in Science and Technology at the University of Waterloo, Department of Earth Sciences. Student research, "Fate and Transport of Metals from the Sherridon Mine Tailings"
